Giving to SickKids just got a little easier – and a little more technically savvy.

SickKids Foundation can now accept donations from smartphones through PayPal Mobile 2.5 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

PayPal and Canadian developer Artez Interactive came together to create a mobile app that will enable donations to SickKids Foundation and 16 other charities in Canada. Worldwide, the app supports donations to approximately 20,000 charities. Donations can be funded from a PayPal account balance, bank balance or credit card.

As smartphones increasingly become the norm, more and more people are turning to apps to help organize their social lives, connect with friends and family and stay tuned in to what is happening here at home and around the world. Why not make it easier for people to connect to their favourite charities?

PayPal mobile 2.5 is in the iTunes App Store now. To learn more about the new iPhone application, please visit www.PayPal.com/mobile or download the app directly from iTunes.

If mobile giving isn’t for you, you can always donate to SickKids Foundation by visiting us online or calling 416-813-6166.

image Did you know that in Canada more than 300,000 children are affected by epilepsy? Nellie had a question for our experts about this neurological condition.

"Why do kids get epilepsy?" ~ Nellie, 10, Toronto, ON

Click here to see the answer from Dr. Carter Snead, division head of Neurology at The Hospital for Sick Children and a senior scientist in the Neurosciences & Mental Health program at the SickKids Research Institute.

The scientists at SickKids are experts in most areas of health and life science. They spend their days asking tough questions and searching out the answers. Now it is your turn to ask them the tough questions.

Have you ever had a burning question about your body or about your health and didn’t know how to find the answer? This might just be the opportunity to get to the bottom of it!

You have the chance to submit your question and it will be answered by a scientist who specializes in that area. The best questions and answers will be featured on the Research Institute website: http://www.sickkids.ca/research.

Check the website often to see if your question gets posted. You can learn about what others want to know and if you read enough answers, you may even become a health expert yourself!

Dairy Queen Miracle Treat Day - August 12 Don’t forget to beat the heat and join Canadians across the country to celebrate Miracle Treat Day this Thursday, August 12. Cool off with a Blizzard® from Dairy Queen or purchase a paper balloon to help make a difference in the lives of sick children.

Miracle Treat Day is a one-day national charity drive that donates proceeds from its Blizzard® purchases to Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across the country. There has never been a cooler way to help children’s hospitals like The Hospital for Sick Children. All proceeds raised in northern and south central Ontario will benefit SickKids.

Last year, Miracle Treat Day raised more than $300,000 for SickKids! Let’s do it again this year!
