sg_teacher_banner_top_v2 The end of school is just around the corner! But before getting too carried away with thoughts of summer fun, don’t forget about thanking your child’s teachers with a SickKids Get Better Gift.

That’s right! It’s time to reflect on what was surely a wonderful school year and the important role your child’s teachers played – and what better way say thanks than a gift that is equally as meaningful!

With a SickKids Get Better Gift, you can show your child’s teachers how much you appreciate their hard work while brightening the lives of kids at The Hospital for Sick Children. And to help you do that, SickKids Foundation has some really thoughtful and convenient gift ideas for you to check out.

Help support important services at the Hospital – and put a smile on the faces of your child’s teachers – with a gift that can provide: arts and crafts programs that help children cope with hospital stays ($10); scrapbooking and journaling supplies so children can commemorate all their important hospital milestones ($15); and books for the Hospital Reading Room – a special place that provides SickKids patients with an escape from their daily and sometimes difficult hospital routine ($20).

So let all the other parents worry about getting the more traditional teacher’s gifts and earn your gold star: Give your child’s teachers a SickKids Get Better Gift by visiting the website or calling 416-813-7992.

From navigating a global economic recession to the launch of The Research & Learning Tower, our most ambitious capital campaign to date, the past few years at SickKids Foundation have been marked by significant achievements. These achievements – including a record-breaking $106.8 million raised in our last fiscal year – are a credit to the outstanding leadership provided by the Foundation’s Board of Directors, but in particular, that of Patsy Anderson, who ended her term last week as Board Chair. Thank you Patsy!

I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome and congratulate another exceptional leader, John Francis, on his appointment as the new Board Chair. As founder of Fraser Kearney Capital Corp. and former President and CEO of Trader Media Corporation, John brings with him a wealth of experience that I know will prove instrumental in his new role.

Read our media release to learn about the six people who will also be joining our Board: Rita F. Ciccolini, Kevin Crull, Charles Field-Marsham, David Goodman, Christian Lassonde and Justin Poy.

With the extensive qualifications and passion of each of these individuals, the legacy of achievements at SickKids will only continue to grow.
