On Friday June 19, SickKids Foundation staff will be lacing up their sneakers for a good cause. One of our patients, Brandon Gibson, is preparing to take part in the 17th World Transplant Games this August in Queensland, Australia.

Brandon is part of Team SickKids, an elite group of transplant patients from The Hospital for Sick Children. This year’s team will include heart, lung, kidney and liver transplant recipients.

Brandon is 16 years old and has been battling cystic fibrosis since he was a baby. In 2005, Brandon became extremely ill and his lungs began to fail. He was placed on the lung transplant list and he received a lifesaving double-lung transplant in November 2006.

Today Brandon is doing great. He is looking forward to representing SickKids at this year’s World Transplant Games but he needs our support to help get him and his family there.

On Friday SickKids Foundation staff will pay $2 to wear sneakers to work and help support Brandon Gibson and send him on his way to the 2009 Games. You can help us support him and many of the other Team SickKids patients by making a donation.
