The sun is shining and, though it’s early, our volunteers are bright and cheerful, poised to take your donations for the SickKids Radiothon, presented by Foresters and part of Astral’s National Day of Caring for Kids.
Newstalk 1010, boom 97.3 and 99.9 Virgin Radio are set up in the Atrium at SickKids and ready to share some compelling stories.
To get a jumpstart on those heartfelt stories, pick up a copy of the Toronto Star this morning. In it, you’ll find the annual SickKids special section – it’s 20 pages long, featuring more than 15 stories all about SickKids.
It features stories like Hunter Kemp’s. Hunter is currently preparing for a final round of chemotherapy to treat his acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Valerie South talks about her two sons, Thomas, 10, and Cameron, 16, who have low-functioning autism and are unable to speak. Heather Hamilton authors a story about her time with her son Zack, who died in March of heart failure. The section also features a full-page story on the new Research & Learning Tower.
