Build a Legacy - J.P. Bickell Society
Gift and Estate Planning
Inspired by the example of one man, the J.P. Bickell Society was established to recognize donors of future gifts and make them a part of SickKids. It is our way of saying "thank you" to our donors for their commitment to us. SickKids Foundation respects the privacy of its donors; we do not sell, rent or trade our donor lists. The information we collect is used to process donations, keep our donors informed about the activities of the hospital and Foundation, and ask for their support for our mission to improve children's health. If at any time you wish to be excluded from future contacts, or to discuss our privacy options, call us at 416-813-8271 and we will accommodate your request.
Canadian business legend John Paris Bickell was a man who believed in the future of The Hospital for Sick Children. He established the J.P. Bickell Foundation in 1951 and directed half of its income to SickKids. This gift helped to create The Hospital for Sick Children Research Institute in 1954, which is now the largest hospital-based research facility in Canada and one of the largest in the world. Almost 1,000 people, led by some of the world's top scientists, carry out research in a broad range of fields.
The Society includes donors of bequests under a Will, life insurance, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities or the proceeds of a RRSP/RRIF. Every donor of any planned gift is invited to become a member. Members are invited to annual events at SickKids. However, you may remain anonymous if you wish, as a member of the J.P. Bickell Society, the details of your gift are kept strictly confidential.
J.P. Bickell exemplifies the vision and forethought of planned giving donors to SickKids. Thanks to J.P. Bickell's gift, and other gifts like it, SickKids is one of the top four paediatric hospitals worldwide.
