In my capacity as Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee of SickKids Foundation, I want to emphasize the Board’s unequivocal support of the Foundation’s fundraising strategy and management. The Audit and Finance Committee carefully reviews the annual business and strategic plans of SickKids Foundation and monitors performance against them throughout the year. Management and the Board have set ambitious goals for the Foundation, and have put in place a very qualified senior leadership team to carry out the plans.

Furthermore, the Committee, and through it the Board, have complete confidence in the financial management of the Foundation, which is reviewed continuously both by the Committee and by our external auditors. Moreover, the Committee approved last year the creation of an internal audit function to further test and validate our accountability at all levels. Our strong commitment to integrity and accountability are the cornerstones of the trust the public has placed in us, and that we continue to maintain and safeguard on a daily basis.
