Here is what your donations supported in April 2011

SickKids Foundation is driven by the belief that improving the health and well-being of children is one of the most powerful ways we can change our community. It is our motivation for everything we do.

Last year, the Foundation provided $57.9 million in financial support to priorities in patient care, research and learning. In April 2011 alone, $2,595,588 was granted to SickKids. This funding brings us one step closer to reaching our vision of “Healthier Children. A Better World.”

Here are some of the projects that this funding supported:

Research

• $87,750 to support Dr. Gabrielle deVeber’s research into paediatric strokes
• $2,841 to support cell growth research by Dr. Walid Farhat and Dr. Hai-Ling Margaret Cheng

Education

• $9,992 to support a fellowship in the neurosurgery unit

Care

• $24,809 to renovate the infant milk preparation room in nutrition services
• $13,886 to renovate the critical care unit waiting room
• $3,274 to support the Friends of Music Therapy program
