Here is what your donations supported in June 2011
SickKids Foundation is driven by the belief that improving the health and well-being of children is one of the most powerful ways we can change our community. It is our motivation for everything we do.
Last year, the Foundation provided $57.9 million in financial support to priorities in patient care, research and learning. In June 2011 alone, $2,937,522 was granted to the Hospital to bring us one step closer to reaching our vision: Healthier Children. A Better World.
Here are some of the projects this funding supported:
Research
- $130,000 to develop family-therapy treatment for children with eating disorders
- $94,200 to support short bowel syndrome research
- $52,982 to support neuroblastoma research
Learning
- $10,000 to develop accessible program information for AboutKidsHealth
- $9,165 to purchase training kits for the Labatt Family Heart Centre
Care
- $96,289 to renovate the milk preparation room in Food and Nutrition Services
- $50,000 to support the nursing staff in the Starlight Room
- $1,674 to support the music therapy program
