Here is what your donations supported in March 2011

Philanthropy is a critical source of funding for The Hospital for Sick Children. In March 2011 alone, SickKids Foundation granted $5,789,656 to SickKids. Here are some of the projects that this funding supported:

Research

• $173,213 to support the research of Dr. David Kaplan and Dr. Sylvain Baruchel into neuroblastoma
• $125,000 to purchase electron microscope equipment and software for the genetics and genome biology unit
• $23,000 for the development of the "Good 2 Go" Transition Program for patients with HIV/AIDS

Learning

• $97,500 to support clinical fellowships for international physicians training in paediatric neurosurgery
• $35,000 to support a fellowship in the orthopaedics unit

Care

• $496,351 through the Herbie Fund to support international patients
• $100,000 to support the use of a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) machine and CT scanner
• $25,000 for the restoration of the playroom in the Labatt Family Heart Centre
