Together, we can heal the future

Every year, SickKids partners with Fairchild Media Group on Fairchild Fundraising Day, a radio broadcast event that raises critical funds for the Hospital, while sharing powerful stories from patients and families that highlight the need for donations and the impact of your support.

Over the past three decades, Fairchild Media Group, along with the Chinese community, have raised over $6.7 million to help SickKids fight the greatest challenges in child health. Thank you for joining us once again! 

PRECISION CHILD HEALTH IN ACTION

Meet Audrey, Matthew, Louise, Cody, and Nori: SickKids patients whose stories demonstrate the power of Precision Child Health.

MEET AUDREY

Audrey was born with a heart condition and needed surgery at just six days old to help her heart work as it should. Today, with a healthy heart, 15-year-old Audrey can do all the things she loves, like staying active and playing music. She visits her cardiologist at SickKids every year to ensure her heart is functioning well.

MEET MATTHEW

In 2023, Matthew (now 14 years old) was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a condition that causes vision loss over time. It’s a very rare disease, and there is no cure. But SickKids is here to support Matthew, such as creating custom eyeglasses for him. At home, Matthew loves learning about the world around him through history, geography and science. He also loves riding electric scooters and bikes with his friends.

MEET LOUISE

Louise, who’s ten, has been a SickKids patient since she was born with a birthmark covering half her face. At SickKids, she gets the precise treatment and care she needs. She’s been through many challenging laser treatments, and often deals with questions from strangers and classmates. Through it all, Louise stays determined and confident: and SickKids is with her every step of the way.

MEET CODY

Ten-year-old Cody was diagnosed with an anaphylactic allergy to peanuts not long after his first birthday. His parents worried about the challenges he would face throughout his life. But thanks to a supervised allergy study at SickKids, Cody has been able to build his tolerance to nuts, with a unique treatment plan tailored to his allergies. He loves the opportunity to contribute to science and help other kids with food allergies.

MEET NORI

Ten-year-old Nori loves dancing and playing drums, and greets everyone she meets with a big smile. She’s been a SickKids patient since age six, when she was first diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that develops in nerve tissue. Nori has faced many challenges in her fight against cancer, but her doctors at SickKids are quick to diagnose her and provide the most effective treatments – letting Nori live her best life as a child. Nori’s journey with cancer is ongoing, but SickKids is there every step of the way.
