While kids look forward to the holidays all year, it can be a challenging time for sick children and their families.

However, it’s also a time of hope. In this issue of SickKids Believer, you’ll meet a brave little girl whose time at SickKids was aided by a special ‘Toronto Elf.’ Plus, you’ll find donors who have helped us fight debilitating diseases and ways you can share the season of giving with others.

Our staff creates a home away from home for those who must stay here.

When one of our young patients learned she would be spending her holidays with us, she worried that Santa wouldn’t be able to find her. But a special ‘Toronto Elf’ at SickKids made sure that Santa knew exactly where she was. Although Stephanie is 6 years old, she has spent only one holiday season at home with her family. The others were spent here with us at SickKids.
