Improving the health of children.

The Home Care Program

How to Apply

Across Canada, paediatric health care that was formerly provided in institutions is increasingly provided where children live. This shift in the site of where care is delivered is the result of the combined effects of medical, pharmaceutical, and technological advances within a context of health care restructuring. Despite the rapid growth in homecare delivery, very little research about home and community-based care has been conducted in Canada. This is particularly true with respect to care for children and youth.

At its January 2000 meeting, the Board of Directors of SickKids Foundation approved a $400,000/year funding envelope, to be allocated to a new children and home care initiative. The direction of the program is guided by the Children and Youth Home Care Network (CYHN) Steering Committee.
