Drake Brings the Power of Music to SickKids
December 23, 2010
Drake, the Grammy-nominated recording artist and former Degrassi Junior High star stopped by The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Wednesday to spread some early holiday cheer.
The Hospital began to buzz in the early afternoon as word quickly spread that the hip-hop superstar would be making an appearance. Excited fans lined the hallway outside the Bear Theatre before settling in for an up close and personal meet-and-greet and autograph session. Drake also made some personal visits to patients who were unable to leave their rooms. He made one girl’s dream come true when he hit his speed dial and let her talk to his buddy Justin Bieber!
Drake has a special moment with SickKids patient Gabrielle as she plays her guitar for him.
Drake makes a phone call to his friend Justin Bieber to the delight of SickKids patient Alysha.
Believing in the healing power of music, Drake met with patients who have benefited from the Music Therapy program at SickKids to chat about how it helped them cope with a difficult period in their lives, and the impact it has had on them since leaving the Hospital.
As an Ambassador to the SickKids Music Therapy Program, Drake recently donated a portion of proceeds from every ticket sold on his Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour to the SickKids Friends of Music Therapy Endowment Fund. The total amount donated to date is close to $70,000!
Thank you Drake for your continued support of the SickKids Music Therapy Program!
