Here is what your donations supported in August 2011

SickKids Foundation is driven by the belief that improving the health and well-being of children is one of the most powerful ways we can change our community. It is our motivation for everything we do.

Last year, the Foundation provided $57.9 million in financial support to priorities in patient care, research and learning. In August 2011 alone, $3,845,630 was granted to the Hospital to bring us one step closer to reaching our vision: Healthier Children. A Better World.

Here are some of the projects this funding supported:

Research

• $100,000 to support Dr. Gideon Koren's research with the Motherisk program
• $47,252 to support Dr. Robert Hamilton’s research into paediatric heart conditions
• $34,000 to support Dr. Johan van Limbergen's research into inflammatory bowel disease

Learning

• $125,000 to develop and promote initiatives supporting infant mental health
• $25,000 for a rheumatology fellowship specializing in lupus

Care

• $100,000 to support Camp Oki, a camp for kids with heart conditions
• $63,087 for renovations to the Labatt Family Heart Centre
• $879 to purchase toys for patients with eating disorders
