Financial community champions child health
“There’s no denying the immense importance of a hospital like SickKids,” says Rob Brouwer, Canadian Managing Partner, Clients & Markets, at KPMG. “It’s a global leader. When the new Research & Learning Tower is completed, SickKids is going to revolutionize child health across Canada and around the world.”
It’s that passion about the work of SickKids that has motivated KPMG to play a crucial role in supporting the Hospital. Since 2005, through their annual peer-to-peer employee fundraising campaign, they have raised more than $500,000 for the Hospital’s highest priority needs. Now they are taking their commitment one step further with a recent contribution of $250,000 to the Tower. That donation will be matched through a generous program from the Government of Ontario, meaning the gift will attract another $125,000 in government support.

Rob Brouwer and KPMG believe in the importance of giving back to the communities they serve.

KPMG’s community contributions mirror their values in the business of audit, tax and advisory services. Making a difference in the communities they serve is vital and they understand the significance of the Tower in the future plans of SickKids.
Once completed in 2013, the Tower will serve as a new home to the 2,000 researchers and scientists at the Hospital. Housing research staff under one roof will promote collaboration, leading to better treatments, groundbreaking discoveries and ultimately new cures. In recognition of KPMG’s support, the main meeting room in the Cancer Stem Cells & Regenerative Medicine neighbourhood will be renamed the KPMG Meeting Room.
The meeting room is among many meaningful naming opportunities in the new facility.
“SickKids saves lives every day and is a trailblazer in paediatric medicine” adds Rob. “I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of an organization that supports a world-class hospital like SickKids.”
