When it comes to her dolls, Kaitlyn is meticulous. She brushes their hair, dresses them, gives them hugs, provides medication when they are sick and sometimes even administers chemotherapy.
Playing doctor to her dolls is one of the coping mechanisms Kaitlyn has learned to help deal with her cancer.
Diagnosed by SickKids doctors at age four with leukemia, Kaitlyn has been nothing but an inspiration. She enjoys her clinic visits at Sickkids and kept a positive attitude when she lost her hair as a result of her chemotherapy.
Kaitlyn has just started senior kindergarten with her twin sister Samantha. There, she will be able to teach her classmates all about cancer.

Nevaeh's mom thought her little girl would always be protected by her four older brothers. But they couldn't protect her from a failing heart.
X-rays confirmed Navaeh, 2, had an enlarged heart and would need immediate specialized care. Transferred to SickKids, she spent more than a week in hospital receiving treatment as her family learned all about her condition.
Sadly, her condition worsened. Doctors made the tough decision to put Navaeh on the heart transplant waiting list. In February 2011, Navaeh received a new heart and, thanks to her tenacious spirit, she managed to leave SickKids only five days after her surgery.
With her playful nature, Navaeh loves to dance and entertain her family, friends and protective older brothers.

Malachi's heart began to fail before he was even born. His mother underwent an emergency C-section to keep him alive. But even the expertise at SickKids couldn't keep his heart from failing again.
Attached to tubes and machines at the cardiac critical care unit, Malachi needed a heart transplant to survive. After two weeks on the transplant list, Malachi received a new heart.
Today, Malachi keeps active with swimming, soccer and basketball and visits to the Labatt Family Heart Centre at SickKids for checkups. He's doing everything he can to keep his special heart in shape.
