Meagan's HUG

Mother’s Day weekend is a very special weekend, as Meagan’s HUG hosts their annual walk and hug. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the HUG in support of paediatric brain tumour research at SickKids.

Over the past 20 years, Meagan’s HUG has brought together thousands of people of all ages and abilities to join hands and form a human hug around SickKids.
Meagan’s HUG started in 2000, when Denise Bebenek’s four-year-old daughter Meagan was diagnosed with an inoperable and malignant brain tumour. This was something the family knew little about, and six short months later, they lost her. It was the start of an idea that became Meagan’s HUG, formerly known as Meagan’s Walk.
In honour of Mother’s Day and all mothers, we would like to celebrate, recognize and thank Denise Bebenek and her incredible group of volunteers that support this initiative and have been for the past 20 years. To-date, Meagan’s HUG has raised over $5.86 million since its inception in 2002.

Due to current events, Meagan’s HUG has postponed their event to a later date.
