Donor Spotlight | Week of February 10

Coco's Cocoa for Kids

We are delighted to shine the spotlight on an extraordinary youth-led initiative for this week’s Donor of the Week. Twelve-year-old Cohen Lane started Coco's Cocoa for Kids in 2022. Inspired by the strength and bravery of SickKids patients, Cohen decided to host a hot cocoa stand outside his home with hopes of raising a “few thousand dollars” for the cause. Cohen rallied the community to raise $6,000 that first year. Since then, he has more than doubled his fundraising total each year, with the 2024 campaign raising $29,500. Overall, since 2022 Cohen and his crew have raised an incredible $50,000 for the Hospital!

Cohen’s unwavering determination, ingenuity, and infectious energy have led to an outpouring of community support for his campaign. He has been featured in the local news, received multiple community awards, and even made a National tv appearance on “The Good Stuff with Mary Berg”. We are now thrilled to add “SickKids Donor of the Week” to his list of accomplishments!

The Cooper Robertson Foundation

The Cooper Robertson Foundation was created out of a journey marked by challenges, resilience, and hope. Cooper was diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) at six weeks old, a moment that filled our family with sadness, anger, and fear. As Cooper's first birthday approached, we found inspiration in the story of another family who faced their own challenges, reminding us, “This is our story.” Those words sparked a new perspective, and together with our family we decided to create something meaningful in Cooper’s name.

By Cooper's second birthday, with the incredible support of our family, friends, and community, the Cooper Robertson Foundation officially launched. As a registered Canadian charity, the Foundation raises awareness and funds for TSC and specifically supports the TSC Clinic at SickKids. We strive to turn Cooper’s diagnosis into a story of hope—one that supports families, advances research, and helps to make the future of TSC as bright as possible.

SickKids extends our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering commitment and generosity. Your support has transformed countless lives. Because of your dedication, Cooper’s story—and the stories of many others—has become a powerful testament to hope, resilience, and progress. You have turned challenges into opportunities, making an impact that will be felt for generations. Thank you for being an unstoppable force for change!
