A One-Wheeled Journey for SickKids
He is known as ‘The Unicycle Guy’ in Toronto. Whipping around the streets on one wheel, Paul turns heads wherever he goes.
“It’s unconventional but it works,” said Paul. Not only does it get him from point A to point B, but it captures people’s attention and gets them to ask questions. Which is especially beneficial when he is training for and taking part in his charitable rides to raise funds for SickKids.

“I couldn’t get over how strong this boy was,” said Paul. “He was such an inspiration to me.”
Paul had been contemplating the challenge of a charity ride and, upon meeting Michael, decided that SickKids would be the recipient of his first tour.
“The courage that Michael showed was my driving force in taking on the challenge of riding my unicycle from Montreal to Toronto in 2013,” said Michael. “It was his strength that kept me going through some of the tougher portions of my ride. Whenever I felt like I wanted to stop, I thought of him.”
After a trip to Regina to ride and raise funds for the Crohns and Colitis Foundation in 2014, Paul has chosen to once again ride for SickKids in 2015. Starting on May 5, Paul will ride his unicycle from Sudbury to Toronto, a trip he expects will take about a week to complete. He plans on finishing his trek at City Hall, where he will ride around the grounds waving a giant Canadian flag.
“I want to inspire people when I do these charity rides,” said Paul. “You never know who you will touch when you do something for others.”
