Donor Stories – Ruth and George Donaldson
Her sister Susan, born in 1952, lived with cystic fibrosis for 47 years and was treated at The Hospital for Sick Children as a child.
When the television program prompted Ruth to become a SickKids Foundation donor, she didn't hesitate. She picked up the phone and she and her husband George became Monthly Miracle Club members.
"We feel a sense of pride to have a world-class facility in Toronto"
As Monthly Miracle Club members, George and Ruth make monthly contributions to SickKids Foundation. This type of giving is an easy and cost-effective way to give. Regular monthly gifts provide the Foundation with a reliable source of funding to help in areas like research, education and care. These are causes with which Ruth and George want to align themselves, especially in the case of children.
"These little beings are so precious," she said. "I can't even imagine how devastating it is to a parent who has to watch their child be hospitalized."
Recently, Ruth and George decided to substantially increase their monthly donation to SickKids Foundation. They couldn't be happier with their decision.
"We feel a sense of pride to have a world-class facility in Toronto that we can support," Ruth said. "We were looking for a charity to adopt and I'm glad we can now call SickKids Foundation our own.”
