How can I tell if an email or text from SickKids Foundation asking me to update my information is legitimate?

SickKids Foundation may contact monthly donors by email or text message if a monthly donation was missed or a credit card is expiring.

We will always direct you to a secure webpage on our official website, sickkidsfoundation.com . In some cases, our text messages may include a one-time personal code that you can enter on our website to securely confirm your identity. We will never ask you to reply to an email or text with your credit card number, banking details, or any personal financial information. If you’re ever unsure about a message, please contact our Monthly Donor Specialists directly at 416-813-1216.

Is SickKids fundraising at malls right now?

During this time, your support of SickKids Foundation has never been more important.

SickKids has been closely monitoring the developments related to the COVID-19 situation. Health and safety for all is the top priority and we want to ensure our community is protected.

As a result, we have temporarily suspended all mall fundraising activities.

Is there specific wording I should use to make a gift in my will?

Specific wording depends on the type of gift, and its designation, but here are some examples:

RESIDUAL BEQUEST “My estate trustees shall pay (all or %) of the residue of my estate to The Hospital for Sick Children Foundation, Toronto, ON, for the purpose of supporting its highest priority needs.”

SPECIFIC AMOUNT “My estate trustees shall pay the sum of $ (or transfer assets with an equal value) to The Hospital for Sick Children Foundation, Toronto, ON, for the purpose of supporting its highest priority needs.”

It is important that you use our legal name when making a gift in your will. Our legal name is “The Hospital for Sick Children Foundation”. The Foundation is responsible for raising money and performing estate administration on behalf of the Hospital.

If you’d like your gift to be designated for a specific purpose (e.g. the Labatt Family Heart Centre), contact our team so we can help with the wording to ensure that your gift goes where you want it to go.
