Paddy to the Rescue!
Paddy Andrews, supermom of five and super volunteer, started with SickKids in March 2016 and has been on our speed dial ever since! With five healthy children, Paddy has always wanted to give her time to SickKids in any way, even if it's just stuffing envelopes. After moving downtown and waking up to the SickKids sign across the street, along with listening to NewsTalk 1010's Telethon, Paddy decided to pursue volunteering.
Since March, she has supported the Foundation in a number of roles; starting from assisting the Direct Marketing team, to working in our Signature Events department, and most recently playing a significant role in the Canaccord Genuity Great Camp Adventure Walk on September 24th as a Crew Counsellor.
This had been Paddy's first time at the Camp Walk. She was in awe of all the mechanics that came together to execute the event. Paddy was also impressed to see people from all walks of life, shapes, and sizes finishing the 20km- not to mention the great group of Jr. Crew that came out both days, which gives her hope for our future. Paddy is a firm believer in 'paying it forward' and says that "time is one thing that we can't buy. If you can give just a little bit of it, whether it's once a week, month, or even year to help someone else... that's what it's all about in the end. If 500 letters went out and only two came back with a donation, it's all worth it for me!"
Paddy, on behalf of SickKids, thank you for being so flexible and giving us your time ...even on short notice!
