What type of donations do you accept at the door?
SickKids is grateful for all donations we receive. For safety reasons, we do not accept cash. Monthly donations offer the most flexibility, providing a reliable source of ongoing revenue. One-time donations cannot be processed at the door however the canvasser can email a link to make a secure online donation or you can donate online here. If you prefer to make a single yearly donation which renews every twelve month, that option is now available at the door.
Donor Stories – Tim Hockey
Often when donors give to SickKids, they do so because they have a personal connection with the Hospital - their child has been treated here. Not so for Tim Hockey.
What’s the minimum donation required for a tax receipt?
To minimize administrative costs, paper tax receipts are issued for donations of $20 or greater. For online donations, e-tax receipts do not have a minimum donation.
I see fundraisers on the street in Toronto. Is this part of your program?
No, SickKids does not participate in street fundraising. Many other charities raise money through street fundraising. SickKids, however, is not one of them.
Florence Charters: soother of suffering
Florence Charters, first social service nurse at SickKids, criss-crossed the city, caring for patients and families in their homes. She and her team became the pioneers for outpatient visits.
